The much-awaited Honda City is reported to arrive in India on January 7, 2014 in New Delhi and on January 8 in Mumbai. The City model of Honda is regarded as a benchmark in its segment in India; it has earned company the reputation of producing high quality, reliable vehicles. It has been reported that several enquiries have been made about the car and buyers have even put down booking amounts even before seeing it, such is the confidence of customers in the new Honda City.
The new Honda City car is reported to be comparatively longer than its previous version. It is packed with more equipment and will even be available in the diesel engine option. The overall product is believed to be impressive and it also delivers well in all aspects, it has good drive dynamics, quality interiors as well as segment leading cabin space. The diesel version of Honda City is claimed to be India’s most efficient car, which has the fuel efficiency of 26 kilometer per litre.
Honda will present the City model in five variants which are E, S, SV, V and VX. These variants will be presented with a choice of company’s 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine that delivers power of 119PS @ of 6,600 rpm and 145Nm of torque @ 4,600rpm and the new 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine that develops power of 100PS @ 3,600 rpm and 200Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. The petrol engine will be presented to the customers with a choice of five-speed manual gearbox and a CVT autobox, whereas the diesel engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Indian car market is believed to be price sensitive and the new City is believed to be priced at par with its competitors, it may have starting price of Rs 8.3 lakh to over Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
