Assembling of Mercedes Benz S Class, a popular car in the luxury vehicle segment will start at Pune. The company has a production facility in Pune and its assembling will begin in April, 2014. This German auto maker is also planning to design and develop new models in the Indian automobile market this year. This company has started planning and making strategy for regaining top slot in the luxury car segment. As part of this strategy, the company is planning to launch a wide range of new products and initiatives that are customer friendly. The company already occupies a prominent position in the luxury segment.
According to several reports and statistics, the division that has been owned by Daimler sold 9003 units in the year 2013. It is quite impressive given the unstable market conditions. 32% growth has been registered by the company in comparison to the year 2012. Presently, the company occupies second position in the luxury cars segment following closely on the footsteps of Audi, another German car manufacturing company. Top slot was managed by this company on the latter half of the year 2013 thus it is working hard to maintain this position and continue in the same way in the year 2014.
Mercedes Benz launched its newest version of luxury sedan S class on 8th of January, 2014. This car has been priced at Rs 1.57 crore which is its ex-showroom Delhi price. This car is being brought to India in the form of CBU or Completely Built Unit. 70 percent of this car is assembled locally by this automobile company. The company is making huge investments in the country for setting up of a production plant and a local assembly. With the help of these plants, the company will be able to assemble its cars from Pune plant.
